Sweden's Best Sauna 2025

Sveriges bästa bastu 2025

A Guide to the Country's Most Loved Sauna Experiences

Sauna fever is gripping Sweden! In Finland, a sauna is as essential to a home as a dining table. Unfortunately, Sweden isn't quite there yet, and our 300,000 saunas, or 0.03 saunas per capita, pale in comparison to Finland's 3,300,000 saunas, or 0.59 saunas per capita.

Fortunately, Sweden has many public saunas, ready to embrace Swedes' newfound interest in saunas. But where are Sweden's best saunas really located?

Sweden's Best Sauna 2025

Bastu Paus - Malmö

That Sweden's best sauna would be in Malmö was something we hadn't expected. Sauna Ice comes from Kiruna, at the very top of the country, where sauna culture is deeply rooted and saunas south of Umeå are often met with some skepticism, unless they are in Finland.

Sauna culture has taken root throughout the country, and Bastu Paus in Malmö is proof that the heat is spreading further and further south.

By Lake Arriesjön, just outside Malmö, you'll find a beautiful oasis with a charming sauna raft. The cozy factor is absolute at Tobias Johansson's Bastu Paus facility. The perfect place to take a break from everyday stress, unwind, and let your body and mind find their way home.

With a perfect rating on Google based on an astounding 255 reviews, Bastu Paus is a clear winner. This sauna experience is well worth a visit!
